Lucky Cat Rolls into Birmingham Restaurant Week with a Sweet Deal!
We have been fans of Lucky Cat Rolled Cream ever since we first saw their cart at Pepper Place! Now they have a brick & mortar location in Homewood and are a community favorite!
Hannah Slamen was the first to bring the concept of Rolled Ice Cream to the Birmingham area. Just watching her make the rolls on a supercooled metal plate is mesmerizing! (It also makes for a great Instagram Boomerang video!)
Lucky Cat is new to Birmingham Restaurant Week, so we were curious as to what made them want to participate. We asked Hannah what drew her to the concept. “We decided to be part of Restaurant Week because it’s a great opportunity to share the wonderful locally sourced ingredients we use through the Urban Food project. Restaurant Week has a history of positive impact on our city and the growing food scene,” said Hannah. Yep, Lucky Cat uses local ingredients to make their rolled ice cream that much more delicious!
During #BRW2018 you can get one sweet deal that allows you to try a variety of their flavors! For just $10 you can get a sampler plate of 5 of their rolls! The hardest part is picking which ones to try from their extensive menu.. Not only are the rolls delicious, Lucky Cat gets creative with the presentation as well.
We tried a plate which included the Cookie Monster, The Fairytale, The Daily, Chocoberry, and the Rev Up! While normally served in cups, the BRW option comes on a freezing cold plate so that each roll could be decorated in a unique way!
Did you know that Lucky Cat serves adult beverages as well?! Be sure to check their website and social media for changing drink specials like a $2 beer with the purchase of a premium rolled cream! Mom or Dad can enjoy a Cahaba Brewing Co. beer while the kids eat their ice cream!
If you haven’t been to their new location yet you need to find out what you’re missing out on! They even do collaborations with We Have Doughnuts! When I asked Hannah how she felt going into her first Birmingham Restaurant Week she replied, “As first year restaurant owners, My husband and I feel privilege to be part of this amazing week long event.” We definitely feel Lucky to have them!
