The first day of March looks like it’s coming in like a lion, but the rest of the weekend will be perfect for outdoor events! It’s also time for the Chili Cook-off, which is always a MASSIVE event at Brookwood Village! The weekend also brings quite a few events featuring jazz music, including the “Black out Cancer” Prohibition Party benefiting the Bham chapter of the American Cancer Society! #RUhappenin

In honor of Women's History Month, this presentation is the beginning of our Infinite Possibility: Celebrating Women in Astronomy mini series. Allie Horne and Hannah Hynds will highlight Peggy Whitson and Tracy Caldwell Dyson before our feature presentation! Admission is free and seating is available on a first come, first served basis. The presentation is family friendly and we will take telescopes out after for public viewing, if weather permits.

In this special lecture, art historian John Seyller Ph.D, will illuminate the illustrious career of a previously unknown Mughal court painter, Abd al-Karim, who until recently was only known as the Bodleian Painter. Dr. Seyller will demonstrate how this unknown artist, under the tutelage of his master Farrukh Beg, affected the traditions of painting in Bijapur and went on to create a lasting legacy for his work.

Seasick Records and Crestwood Coffee Company/Cafe are raising money for the employees of Saturn Birmingham and Satellite who've been largely out of work since the venerated music venue / coffee shop / bar caught on fire last month. So come spend the day in Crestwood and eat and drink for a good cause! Here's what's going down: Crestwood Coffee Company/Cafe opens at 7am. Seasick Records at Noon. Party until 7 PM. Music starts at Noon with Seasick’s own Suaze on the turntables. He’ll be playing between each set, too. There will be plenty of great local bands to enjoy! As a special treat, they will be serving up cocktails made famous at Bottle Tree and Eclipse Coffee & Books! (may they rest in peace.)
