Founded in 2017, Magic City Fashion Week aims to cultivate, connect, and showcase the artistic community of Birmingham, AL through fashion. MCFW places a strong emphasis on the development of emerging designers while fostering engagement with community partners to utilize fashion as a vehicle for change. MCFW has partnered with Birmingham AIDS Outreach for its inaugural multi-day event, set to take place during the week of the 76th Annual Magic City Classic.

LL Cool J once said, "Give me an hour plus a pen and a pad," to summarize his ability to write bars. It Was Written will feature 12 writers (emcees, poets, a person that can recite words to music, etc.) that will be given an hour to write 16 bars for a track they have never heard before. At the end of the hour, the participants will be grouped by 3's and called up to the stage to perform, to the track they were just given, the verse they just wrote. In an effort to keep the participants honest, the audience will be asked to submit suggestions for the topic of their verses.

The annual Family Fall Festival at Dawson has been a long-time, community-wide event for all ages. Free carnival and train rides, games, the rock climbing wall, inflatables, balloon animals, face painting, and live music by the Herb Trotter Band make this event a family favorite. Put on your best costume (mom and dad, that includes you) and have dinner with us. Enjoy a Chick-Fil-A sandwich, personal pizza, or nachos, and afterward, satisfy your sweet tooth with an old fashioned, hand-dipped candy apple (they go quickly), made-to-order mini donuts, or fresh and fluffy cotton candy (all at a reasonable price). The Southside Storyteller Festival is the Inaugural Festival from The Five Points Alliance, The J. Clyde, & Orbit Salon celebrating 130 years of the Five Points Birmingham District. The Southside Storyteller Festival will be a celebration centered on The Storyteller Fountain created by Frank Fleming in the Heart of Five Points South. On Saturday, those who enjoy an inspired story through Spoken-word, Poetry, and Storytelling will be entertained at the fountain by talented groups from Real Life Poets, Inc., The Sister City Connection Spoken Word Collective, Ada Long Creative Writing Workshop for High School Students, UAB, Green Bucket Press, Nitty Gritty Magic City Reading Series, and more.
