A Weekend Full of Music and Fun!

Hey, Birmingham! Vulcan Aftertunes returns this weekend! In addition to this fall tradition, the weekend also features a FREE concert at Brookwood Village and the return of The Art of Hope event, which highlights suicide prevention. Brookwood LIVE! Brookwood Live! Featuring the M-80s

The Brookwood Live fall concert series returns for three Thursday nights this September. Join in for the second night of the concert series on Thursday. Enjoy live music from The M-80s, one of the most authentic 1980s pop and rock tribute band you’ll ever hear. Every song The M-80s performs is an instant recognizable hit that is sure to get you on the dance floor! Shop local artist booths throughout Brookwood Village at Birmingham Art Crawl's Thursday night pop-up. Delight in full-service dining from the restaurants on Village Lane, or bring your own lawn chair and grab a bite from the food court. Kids receive complimentary face painting from Magic City Face Art, making Brookwood Live an entertaining evening of dining, dancing, and shopping for all ages!

This round of Ed Family Game Night will feature students from Huffman, Ramsay, Jackson-Olin, and Wenonah, playing alongside teams from Alabama Power, UAB, Jones Walker, and Regions, all hosted by Dr. Anthony C. Hood. The Happy Hour reception includes food from Jim N' Nick's and bar by Tres Luna. Come join the fun!

It’s time to get your game face on, fire up your grills, and get ready to battle with some of the best Backyard Chefs from the Birmingham area. The Alabama Wildlife Federation is hosting their Wild Game Cook-Off at the Birmingham Zoo! Get your taste buds geared-up for some of the best wild game the Birmingham area has ever put on a plate. Ample servings of great food are always featured, including entrees such as venison, duck, dove, pheasant and so much more!
Tickets are $40 per couple prior to the event and $50.00 at the door. The ticket price includes one Alabama Wildlife Federation membership, a subscription to the Alabama Wildlife magazine, and all the samples of game you want!

The Art of Hope: Speaking the Unspoken will take place at TrimTab Brewing Company on Thursday, September 20, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. There is no admission cost. There will be art available for purchase in our gallery of selected works. Enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, Paradise Chow food truck, a cash bar, and live entertainment. Prizes will be awarded to guests and artists at the end of the event. The Art of Hope is the annual Fall educational and awareness event hosted by the Alabama Chapter American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Junior Board. This event allows local artists to express the effects of mental illness and show those who are struggling that they are not alone.

The US Championships of Motorcycle Road Racing ends the season at Barber Raceway near Birmingham, AL. Incredible competition, Roger Hayden's last ride, awesome live music from Ben Moseley & The Contraband, the death defying stunts of the BALL OF STEEL, a FREE Kids' Zone! You can't miss the last race of the best season ever! (Note: I was lucky enough to ride on one of these bikes going upwards of 150mph around this track! SCARY! I have a new found respect for these athletes!)

We LOVE this event! It’s such a great way to start your Saturday! Head to Railroad Park and join in the yearly practice of 108 sun salutations in honor of the International Day of Peace! This practice is for everyone - yogis of all levels - in no way do you have to complete all of the sun salutations! 5 is okay, 10 is okay, come enjoy a beautiful morning in the park with some yoga!

Vulcan Park and Museum proudly presents the 14th annual Vulcan AfterTunes concert series. The 2018 event presented by Vulcan Painters Inc. will take place Sept. 23, Oct. 7 and Oct. 21. The series kicks off on Sept.23 featuring Los Colognes, a popular indie buzz band with high energy and great songwriting. This will mark their third time playing in Birmingham. Local favorite Duquette Johnston opens this first installment of the series. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks as you end your weekend on a high note!
