We are past Labor Day, so that means we are officially into Fall Event Season in Birmingham! Yes, we know it’s still 95 degrees outside, but we can still start celebrating Fall a bit early. This weekend brings us Taste of Five Points, Birmingham Artwalk, and MUCH more! Check out all of the details below. If we see you sipping on a Pumpkin Spice Latte while baking in the sun, we promise we won’t judge!

Crawl Before You Can Walk: Bham Art Crawl
Thurs, Sept. 5, 10am-9pm

Birmingham Art Crawl is excited to help kick-off Art Walk! Join them on Thursday at The Pizitz for an early start on celebrating one of the most anticipated art events of the year! This is an all day event that will feature a multitude of artists and makers! Consider this your warm up before Artwalk on Friday and Saturday. As always, Art Crawl is FREE!!! You can park in the Pizitz Deck on 18th St. free for up to 2hrs.!

Journey to the Great Temple of Travel

Join the Vulcan Team this Thursday as Marvin Clemons, author of Great Temple of Travel, presents on Birmingham’s iconic Terminal Station. Clemons, whose pictorial history book is based on the historic train depot, will explore its in-depth history and how it affected the many town visitors, residents, and immigrants it welcomed to the Magic City with awe-inspiring grandeur. Clemons’s book will be available for purchase at The Anvil gift shop!

The Nightingale

The Sidewalk Cinema is officially open for business!!! If you missed “The Nightingale” during the festival, here’s another chance to see it! You can also check out this extremely cool theater below The Pizitz Food Hall! We saw this film during Sidewalk and it was an intense ride! (Definitely not a kids movie.) It’s a tale of revenge that will have you on the edge of your seat!

Birmingham Artwalk 2019

Artwalk is a two-day arts festival that transforms Birmingham’s loft neighborhood into an arts district, featuring the work of more than 100 visual artists, live musicians, street performers, food and drink vendors, and children’s activities. It is free to the public and has become a much anticipated fall event, drawing more than 10,000 people to the streets of downtown. We always look forward to finding a new piece of local art for our home!

Art After 5: Harry Potter Night

Kick off a new season of Art After 5 with a night of wizardry! Dust off your cape and join BMA for Harry Potter Night. Try on the BMA sorting hat to find out which house you belong to, and then get in on some fantastical fun including potion-making, a gallery hunt for horcruxes, and a wand crafting station at Ollivanders. They’ll also have specialty brews and spirits for the tasting. Don’t miss out on the first Art After 5 of the season! Art After 5 is FREE. A cash bar is available for guests who are 21+.

Tinglewood Festival

Alabama’s premier, all-woodworking festival will celebrate “Shavings, Smoke, and Sound” during its 2nd year in Montevallo’s Orr Park on September 7, 2019. This Alabama 200-endorsed event will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is FREE! Enjoy a uniquely Montevallo event with chainsaw wood carving, woodworking artist vendors, a whittling contest, live music, and a wooden boat race. Interstellar’s 2yr Anniversary Party

5th Annual Graze

It’s the 5th year of Graze: Birmingham, ASAN’s annual farm-to-fork picnic fundraiser celebrating the best in Birmingham food! Over 15 farmer-chef pairs collaborate each on a single dish, which they serve in sample sizes to picnickers as they graze from booth to booth in the grassy backyard at Avondale Brewing Company. Approximately 400 diverse participants from Birmingham and beyond will come together for an evening, to enjoy the fruits of our dynamic local food system, while raising funds for ASAN’s work to support that same local food system year-round. Don’t miss this chance to show your support for Alabama farms, Alabama food, and Alabama communities!
