Huntsville Restaurant Week Trip! Part 2

Exploring the Huntsville Food Scene, Day 2!

*(Author’s Note: This is Part 2 of a 3 Part series chronicling our trip to preview Huntsville Restaurant Week! Check out Part 1 **[HERE](https://happeninsintheham.com/huntsville-restaurant-week-trip-part-1-of-3/)**.)*

Lounge area at Honest Coffee Roasters

It was day two of our blogger adventure and, by some miracle, we woke up hungry in our comfy bed at the Westin! Luckily, we were heading off to one of Huntsville’s coolest breakfast spots, Honest Coffee Roasters!

Entrance to Honest Coffee Roasters

Located in a converted downtown garage, Honest Coffee will be a favorite stop for anyone who loves the Birmingham coffee house scene. The moment you enter you are greeted by a tile mosaic on the floor that reads, “Be Honest.” This is just one of many details that make Honest Coffee so unique!

Peanut Butter Mocha

We once again met up with a group of fellow bloggers and quickly surveyed the menu. First we ordered a Nitro Cold Brew and a Peanut Butter Mocha. Normally, Russell isn’t too big on peanut butter drinks, but this cup of coffee had the perfect balance of flavor!

Our amazing breakfast at Honest Coffee

For food we ordered a Mason Dixon (yes, as in the B’ham Mason Dixon) “pop-tart” and a banana nut muffin. We also ordered a “BomBom” Acai Bowl and a Smoked Salmon Bagel, both of which were to die for!

Our Fellow Bloggers!

The atmosphere at Honest Coffee was so engaging that we are sure that some people end up going in for coffee and working through the morning on their laptop. This is another place you don’t want to miss when you visit!

One of the many murals we found!

Now that we were full of food and energy, it was time to check out some more local attractions! Since it was nearby (and air conditioned) we headed over to the Huntsville Museum of Art which is situated on the edge of Big Spring Park.

The Museum had an fun children’s area and some really next exhibits! One exhibit takes you on a journey through time with replicas of famous art and artifacts from different time periods! Another section features works of art that are interactive and allow you to pull levers and turn knobs to set the art in motion!

Before we knew it, it was time for lunch at the Royal Rose Diner! (Birmingham Connection!: The owner was the head chef at DoDiYo’s in Homewood!)

Royal Rose Calamari

Of all the meals we had, lunch at Royal Rose Diner had the most food for us to try! So much so that we won’t be able to cover every dish in this post, but here are our favorites!

Duck with Blackberry Sauce

First up, we tried Grilled Duck with a Blackberry Sauce that seriously caught us off guard with it’s delicious flavor combinations!

Seafood Crepes

Next, we had a Seafood Crepe. Neither of us had ever had a Crepe that wasn’t served as a breakfast dish, so this was a treat! It was stuffed with so much seafood and served in a creamy sauce that we couldn’t get enough of!

Bacon Cheeseburger Casserole

Finally, we had a Bacon Cheeseburger Casserole! Imagine a burger meets a pasta dish! This bowl of elbow macaroni was topped with ground beef and all the fixin’s of a bacon cheeseburger! Amber swears this was her favorite dish because it reminded her of her grandmother’s Goulash! For YEARS she has tried to explain this dish, and here it was in front of us!

So Many Desserts!!!

We almost forgot! Royal Rose brought our a tray FULL of desserts! Ranging from cheesecakes to a Coconut French Toast (made with bread baked in-house) that was one of our favorite dishes of the weekend! Needless to say, we left lunch STUFFED!

Amber "Totes" needs this in her life!

Between lunch and dinner we headed over to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center! This is to Huntsville what Vulcan is to Birmingham. It represents the genesis of the city as is is today. It was only appropriate that we were in town on the 49th anniversary of the first moon landing! We highly recommend that you check out all the fun attractions inside of the museum!

The Saturn V Rocket!

After resting up a bit in our Westin hotel room, it was time for dinner. We will get to that, and more, in part 3!
To be continued in Part 3...
