It’s already Memorial Day Weekend, which means the official start of the summer event season! Not heading out of town for the holiday? No worries! There are plenty of fun events right here in Birmingham for you to enjoy!  From three FREE nights of the Symphony in the park, to a Salsa Showdown, you won’t want to miss these fun events!

Tea with Mary Poppins at BMA!

FREE event with the purchase of a ticket to Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume! The BMA and Red Mountain Theatre join forces for a teatime that’s practically perfect in every way, featuring special guest, Mary Poppins! Don’t miss this chance to enjoy refreshments, participate in arts and crafts, and share a moment with Mary from the cast of RMT’s production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins. Then, you’ll have the chance to view the very costume actress Emily Blunt wore while playing the famous character for the 2018 feature film Mary Poppins Returns as you explore the BMA’s current exhibition, Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume presented by PNC. Symphony in the Summer

Since 2011, the ASO has been delighted to share music with over 130,000 people at the Symphony in the Summer series at Railroad Park. They can't wait to see you there again on Memorial Day Weekend 2024! Bring the family or a group of friends and get ready to enjoy the Symphony at sunset!  Don’t forget your chairs, blankets, and you can event bring a picnic setup! You’ll have three nights to choose from!

29th Annual Creek Bank Festival - Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce has an exciting weekend that packs plenty of fun for you and the family at Leeds Memorial Park this Saturday! (Car Show at 8am, Festival at 10am.) Live entertainment all day long! This is a FREE event with FREE parking so plan to enjoy every minute with hula hoop contests, moon pie eating contest, balloon artist, face painting, train rides, pony rides, inflatables, arts, crafts, specialty vendors from all over the southeast, festival food trucks, Cruising the Creek Bank Charity Car Show and much more! Remember to bring your dog to compete in the Creek Bark Dog Pageant!

13th Annual Salsa Showdown

Support Sidewalk Film Festival and Cinema at the 13th Annual Salsa Showdown! Cahaba Brewing will have rows of teams competing for best salsa, queso, guacamole, and specialty dip! There will also be activities and vendors on site! You get unlimited samples with your ticket and can cast your vote for peoples’ choice!  Be sure to stay for the highlight of the day, the Hot Pepper Eating Contest!  You can sign up to try and eat some hot, and we mean “sign a waiver HOT,” peppers to win a prize!  (Note: Russell will stay up 43hrs straight watching Bad Movies for Sidewalk, but will NOT eat the hot peppers! lol)
