Vulcan Park and Museum invites the Birmingham area to gather for the Magic of Lights: Vulcan’s Holiday Light Experience, Dec. 12 – 23, nightly, from 5-9 p.m.
At the top of each hour, beginning at 5:00 p.m., guests will enjoy a 15 minute lively array of dancing lights choreographed to delightful holiday music. The Anvil and Museum will have extended hours until 9:00 p.m. along with complimentary hot chocolate (while supplies last). Visitors are encouraged to shop at The Anvil for the Red Dot Sale or purchase Birmingham-themed items from local artisans such as Earthborn Pottery and Glass Studio.
”Santa V” will be present for photos from 5 – 7 p.m. at the premiere on Dec. 12!

Watch as the Birmingham Zoo comes alive for a jubilant holiday celebration at the 25th annual ZooLight Safari presented by Wells Fargo! Be amazed by enchanting illuminations and sparkling lights. Enjoy the sounds of seasonal songs and holiday classics as you delight in delicious treats and decadent desserts at the S’mores & More station! Get creative making crafts, decorating ornaments, and writing letters to Santa. Take a merry ride on the Shipt Candy Cane Train, go for a spin on the Jingle Bell Carousel, dash down the Yuletide Slide, hop on the Santa Rollers, and enjoy fun holiday themed games on Henley Park! ZooLight Safari will feature special nights with surprise guests and joyous performances, including Singing Santa! Start a new holiday tradition with the Birmingham Zoo during the 2018 ZooLight Safari presented by Wells Fargo!

Come enjoy this spectacular performance by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra! You will hear selections from all three parts of Messiah, including stunning solos, dynamic arias, and monumental choruses. Selections include Ev’ry valley shall be exalted, The trumpet shall sound, and the unforgettable Hallelujah chorus – all part of Birmingham’s grandest Messiah!

Take a step back in time and explore the history and architecture of one of central Alabama best kept gems, Lakewood Estates. This year there will be 6 homes on tour offering a range of styles from the 1920 and covering the majority of the 20th century. You will have the opportunity to see historic charm and the way these homes have been updated to suite the modern owners. Additionally, you will see how each of the current residents celebrate the holiday season. Proceeds will be used for registration on the National Historic Registry!
