This is a BIG weekend for Anime lovers with both Kami Con AND an Anime Rave taking place! There are also plenty of FREE concerts, as well as some great local theatre performances. Don’t forget that Sunday there are TONS of great local venues showing the Superbowl ! This play tells the story of a group of strong Southern women who purchase an old church building and turn it into a day spa… and name it “Spa Dee Dah”! Get ready for a weekend FULL of Anime fun! Kami Con returns to the BJCC and will have a little bit of everything! Celebrity artists, voice actors, a string quartet playing your favorite video game themes, even an Anime Burlesque!  They’ll also have table top and video gaming areas, lightsaber battles, and a costume contest with awesome prizes! Bards & Brews/Village Voices Rise

Join in for an eclectic evening where poetry, art, and sound collide. The exhibition features sculptural musical instruments and oil paintings by French-born artist Jean-Jacques Gaudel, photo-collage works by Janice Hathaway, and paintings by Kyle Eyre Clyd, alongside works by East Village Arts resident artists LaDonna Smith, Craig Legg, and Barry Marks.  The evening opens with this month’s Bards & Brews where you’ll hear both live music and spoken word poetry. Plus there will be free drinks (21+) provided by Birmingham District Brews!

Head to Good Dog for a Golden Hour 11 a.m.- 12 Noon featuring AGB! Open to the public for golden retrievers, and to all AGB alumni dogs; stay as long as you want when the park opens to the public at noon. All dogs must be friendly with all other dogs and new people, must show proof of vaccinations, dogs over 8 months old must be spayed/neutered, no children under 4'6". Free for Humans! A dog day pass costs $12 for your 1st dog and $6 for a 2nd dog in the same family.
