Happy Women’s History Month!
March is Women’s History Month and there are some great events happenin’ this weekend to help celebrate! It’s also the return of the Exceptional Foundation Chili Cookoff (now in Liberty Park!) and Legion FC has their home opener at Protective Stadium! Monet to Matisse: French Moderns

Monet to Matisse: French Moderns, 1850–1950, presented by PNC Bank, is an exhibition of over one hundred masterworks with more than half from the Brooklyn Museum’s esteemed European collection. The exhibition highlights France’s role as the epicenter of modernism during a time of profound social, intellectual, and political change. Featuring a range of paintings, sculptures, and works on paper, visitors will encounter the iconic art of Paul Cézanne, Mary Cassatt, Edgar Degas, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and many others. Drawing from its own distinguished collection, the Birmingham Museum of Art has nearly doubled the size of the exhibition, offering a broader and more comprehensive exploration of this transformative period in art history.

International Women's Day Celebration

Cottontail’s Village

Don’t miss the Cottontails’s Village this weekend at the BJCC! Shop hundreds of vendors that will be selling clothing, sweet treats, spring decor, and so much more! Bring the kids for photos with the Easter Bunny. You’re sure to find multiple things that you’ll want to purchase and take home. The event runs Friday through Sunday, so there are plenty of chances for you to stop by!

Bards & Brews Open Mic

Bards & Brews Open Mic Poetry Celebration of Women’s History Month! Hey poetry lovers: Join Birmingham Public Library at their Central Location for a Bards & Brews Open Mic celebration of Women's History Month. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and poetry will begin to flow at 6:30 p.m. Thed Weller will serve as host. E. Bailey, a crowd favorite and past poetry slam winner, will be the featured poet, sharing some of her most popular poems. Bards & Brews is free and open to the public. You must be 18+ to enter & 21+ to drink beer samples. Bards & Brews is made possible by a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts, presented to the Friends Foundation of the Birmingham Public Library.

22nd Annual Chili Cook-Off

The Chili Cook-Off is The Exceptional Foundation’s largest event of the year and one of Birmingham’s favorite annual fundraisers! Join us for this family-friendly event, featuring live music, a kids zone, beverages, and all the chili you can eat. Proceeds directly benefit The Exceptional Foundation’s programs for adults and youth with intellectual disabilities. Come celebrate the 22nd Annual Chili Cook-Off and the ways this event supports these great programs.

2nd Annual Crawfish Boil

Don’t miss the season opener for Legion FC! Hammer Down this Saturday at Protective Stadium as Legion FC takes on the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Kites & Bites
Sunday, 3:30pm-6pm

Come fly a kite at Pelham City Park.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own kite and show off their skills in the open green space. This year’s event will feature live music from Pine Song Players, a Birmingham-based project created in the musical sphere of southern pines. Founded by musicians Liz and Jim Murray, the group brings together some of the area’s best talent for a show filled with eclectic country, folk, rock, and pop, rich three-part harmonies, and standout musicianship. Bring a chair or blanket and settle in for an afternoon of great music. In addition to kite flying and live entertainment, kids can enjoy Hula Hoop Fun, a balloon artist, craft activities, and more. Food trucks, including Orbit City, El Compa Taco, and Kona Ice, will be on-site serving up tasty options throughout the event.
