You’re in luck this St. Patrick’s Day weekend, because there are SO many fun (and FREE!) ways to celebrate in and around Birmingham! From some shindigs, to the parade, and parties at breweries, it’s going to be a packed weekend! In addition to the St. Paddy’s activities, there are some additional events to check out and the weather should be amazing! (Heads up, there’s a cold snap coming Monday and Tuesday, so don’t pack away all of your winter clothes just yet.) Check out all of the fun and get ready to wear some green! This weekend we also get a Friday the 13th, Pi Day, and the Ides of March!

Arts & Crafts Beer Night

Unwind, get creative, and sip something good! Head to Birmingham District Brewing Company for Arts & Craft Beer Night, a relaxed drop-in crafting experience paired with great local beer. From 5–8 PM, swing by anytime to participate in a hands-on craft activity, no experience required, just come as you are. Crafting is completely free, and beer is available at regular menu pricing. This is the perfect way to kick back after work, try something creative, and connect with the community in a laid-back brewery setting.

Taste of Helena

Guests can expect an evening of sampling a wide variety of flavors, from savory bites to sweet treats, along with a welcoming atmosphere, great company and the chance to discover some of Helena’s favorite local spots all in one place. General admission tickets are available for $25 and include access to limited seating at high-top tables. VIP admission is $40, and provides ticket holders with early admission and access to a roped-off VIP area that includes guaranteed seating. The proceeds from the event will benefit business students at Helena High School. They will be offered an opportunity to be mentored by the vendors. Taste of Helena isn’t just a great night out, it helps provide Helena High School business students with real-world learning opportunities, including mentorship from local business owners and hospitality professionals.

42nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Don’t miss out on all the St. Patrick’s Day fun this Saturday in 5pts South! The Birmingham St. Paddy’s Parade is back for its 42nd year! The parade will be rolling through the heart of 5pts starting at 1:30pm, BUT you’ll want to arrive early for the pre-parade fun. Starting at 10:30am, there will be live music from multiple bands, including some traditional Celtic music. There will also be a kids zone with inflatables, balloon art, and face painting! NEW this year, you can enjoy a Vendor Village of local retailers who will be selling all kinds of fun stuff! Arrive early and have a great time!

Tour de Brewers XXIV

Tour de Brewers XXIV is a roughly 13K'ish informal charity run/ride/brewery crawl supporting The Dannon Project that combines the "fun" of a fun run with the real fun of tasting great Birmingham local brews. The running/cycling event starts at 11:00 a.m. at Tin Roof Birmingham. As a participant, you will receive a race bib with 5 vouchers each good for a craft beer at any of the stops on the event. Also included is a commemorative t-shirt and an exciting post-run/ride party with music back at Tin Roof where you can win some great prize giveaways! This is a grassroots event where you get to choose the route to each stop and choose which stops you want to go to. All of this fun, plus knowing you are supporting a local nonprofit, The Dannon Project, that is impacting the Birmingham community by providing services to promote permanent employment, holistic health, and stable families amongst poor and at-risk communities. Pi Day Alley Cat

Grab a bike and come ride and explore our city while celebrating Pi Day on 3.14! All types of bikes and riders are welcome. You don't have to compete to be fastest to have a good time and you could even still win something cool. $15 registration fee with all proceeds going towards Redemptive Cycles charitable services. Registration opens at 3 PM. Ride rolls promptly at 4 PM but come early to register and for any last minute needed items. Alley Cats have no set route. Instead, all riders must visit designated check-points and gather proof of their visit. You’ll get a list of the check points at registration then you plan your own route! Ride alone or with friends but the important thing is that you ride!

The tradition of 24hrs of Madness continues at Innisfree Birmingham! Head to the ‘Free starting at 6am (!!!) for some FREE breakfast, St. Paddy’s SWAG, and bagpipers on the patio! This has been our favorite way to celebrate St. Paddy’s together each year since 2010 and there are a lot of others who also make this breakfast an annual tradition! Kegs & Eggs is a FREE event, so stop in before they start charging cover later in the day! The party will continue ALL NIGHT LONG until 6am on Wednesday morning!

AwakenUs Music Festival
April 16-19

Awakenus is a 3-night camping festival in which everyone co-creates together. The event features theme camps, music, art and other creative endeavors! This fest is held at the BEAUTIFUL Bohamia campground, in Talladega, just 1hr outside of Birmingham. You can set up camp, or rent a glamping spot (limited availability), and enjoy some great EDM DJs, activation stations, and even some folk music in the barn! The festival also features an effigy burn (think Burning Man) and a short hike to a nearby waterfall that is absolutely heavenly. You meet some incredible people and see some epic festival outfits! This festival focuses on the concept of “PLUR,” Peace, Love, Unity, & Respect. They also have really nice bathrooms equipped with phone chargers and FREE private showers on site, which is a major plus for a music festival!
