It’s Thanksgiving and there’s a whole lot for us to be thankful for! Most of all, we are thankful for you, our followers, and the Birmingham community as a whole. Between indulging in Thanksgiving favorites and putting up decorations, be sure to check out some of these events! They are great for both quality family time OR as an escape from family drama! Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland

Prepare to be dazzled by a Christmas light spectacle the likes of which you’ve never seen! A visit to one of the shows is all you need to truly let go of every day stresses and let your spirit fly as your senses are tickled with hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights dancing harmoniously with some fantastic Christmas tunes. Simply drive up, tune in your car’s radio, and let the Christmas spirit take you away! Each year brings new displays to enjoy, so be sure to check this out!

Head to Railroad Park and hit the ice for some fun skating against the gorgeous backdrop of the Birmingham skyline! This year they’ve added a 100ft. Ice Slide! Bring the whole family to make some great holiday memories, or bring a date for a romantic skate at night! Either way, it’s a great way to spend your Thanksgiving Day weekend!

Have your picture taken with Santa at the Summit! Head to the North Pole pop-up shop and make some magical memories with the big guy! Book in advance for a few unique options. The Summit is offering traditional portraits with Santa, a sensory friendly experience, and pet friendly visits! (Hopefully, your furry friends are on the “nice” list this year.) There will also be a select few times to get a photo with Santa AND a guest from The Nutcracker! Be sure to buy some gifts from the local vendors while you’re there!

It’s always great to shop local especially on Black Friday! Head to Seasick Records for some special releases (while they last!) and some great discounts! Here we go! Ain’t no party like an Iron City Iron Bowl party! What can you expect? Well, for starters you get a team colors light show and fight song on scoring drives! All the action will be shown on a MASSIVE screen and around the bar! Speaking of bar, there will be a hot dog and nacho bar with food from Iron City Grill as well as specialty cocktails! Get there at 1:30pm to claim your spot!

This may be the funkiest place to watch the Iron Bowl! You can view the game from the lobby, which has great seating options, OR watch in a 100 seat theater! If you have a close group of friends to watch with, this provides a more secluded setting! We’ve been warned that the Sidewalk crew are a house divided, so it could get heated!

Driving through B’ham this week, we’ve already seen local artists adding their personal festive touches to storefront and restaurant windows throughout the city! We like to make a game out of finding all of the Deck the Ham art and posting them online! When you do, be sure to tag the artist and #decktheham when you post! Festival of Trees

Come and help kick off the Festival of Trees exhibit this Sunday at the Pizitz Food Hall! While the display will be up for all of December, you don’t want to miss the unveiling! This free event will feature local markers & artist for holiday shopping, live music, and photos with Santa as The Pizitz debuts the Enchanted Forest art exhibit!
