Birmingham Restaurant Week is in full swing and features some incredible events like Sipology at the new Lakeview Marina. There’s a FREE Big Machines event at the Zoo, Harry Potter Night (Happee Birthdae, Harry!) at the Barons game, and even a musical comedy puppet show! A Night of Poe

A Night of Poe is a hauntingly immersive evening where Edgar Allan Poe's most famous tales come alive through immersive theater, live music, theatrical storytelling, and expertly crafted cocktails. Brotherhood: Doobie Brothers Tribute Band

Brotherhood is an Atlanta based, Doobie Brothers Tribute band featuring seven professional musicians including two drummers, a percussionist, two guitars, bass, and keyboards, that not only replicate the musicianship, but also those sweet vocal harmonies that shaped the Doobies' incredible sound. These experienced musicians are also true fans who have come together to honor 50+ years of the Doobie Brothers’ iconic music. From giant construction equipment to safety machines, join in for the second annual “Big Machine Petting Zoo” at the Birmingham Zoo. Big Machine Petting Zoo is on Saturday, August 1 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Expect giant equipment from Thompson Tractor, City of Birmingham, Mountain Brook, Homewood, and Jefferson County to explore in the zoo parking lot during the final weekend before school starts. This is a free event and great fun before heading in to visit your favorite animals at your Birmingham Zoo!

Puppeteers for Fears is an Oregon-based comedy troupe, specializing in original horror and science fiction rock’n’roll musicals performed with puppets. The company was founded as a one-night-only cabaret show for Halloween 2015, but was so popular that its various members kept going and never looked back. In the time since, PFF has written and performed a half dozen original rock and roll musicals covering everything from supernatural monsters to killer robots to lonely sasquatches, and sold out venues all over the country with its innovative and hilarious combination of puppetry, video, and live music. Saturday, they’ll be performing “Robopocalypse,” a show by puppets about robots taking over. Sounds like a fun time!
