The kids are back in school and we’re starting to wind down the summer event season. This weekend brings us quite a few Decades Parties, some great local theatre, and even a late night rave inside of Sloss Furnaces! Deck’s & Cans

Artists of all mediums and styles are invited to apply to transform a blank skate deck or paint can into a one-of-a-kind artwork! Applications are open to all skill levels and mediums. Artists will be provided a blank deck or spray paint can to transform into a work of art. The Decks & Cans community fundraising event for the Yonder Walls Mural Festival! The O’Mallery’s have gathered in their local park to share some barbecue and straight talk with their sister Barbara, whose spiral of drugs and recklessness has forced her siblings to stage an open-air intervention. An ambitious black janitor and activist in 1902 Alabama is stripped of his hard won right to vote and decides to fight back. With the help of Booker T. Washington and a hot tempered New York black attorney determined to bring justice to the south, the three of them launch a historic legal battle that pits them directly against the established political powerhouse and the KKK. Tickets start at $15, but every dollar above that goes directly toward the fundraising goal! Both performances will be followed by a panel discussion about voting rights in America.
