Sidewalk’s Women In Film Week will feature important, innovative and influential films directed or written by women. This celebration of Women in Film will acknowledge the important artistic and technical contributions made by females in the industry. In addition to first run and retrospective film screenings, the week will offer related panels, workshops, networking/social activities – creating space for the entire community, filmmakers and audiences alike.

There’s no better day than International Women’s Day to uplift the incredible women who are making waves in our community! Please join AMD Creative on Friday, March 8th, 2024 from 5:30 - 7:30pm at the Federal Reserve building for the 5th Annual Women Making Waves Awards! They will be celebrating these women (nominated by fellow friends and coworkers) who consistently show strength, confidence and dedication — all while supporting their businesses and uplifting Birmingham. Urban Cookhouse will be providing heavy hors d'oeuvres as well as their house made strawberry lemonade sangria! Don’t miss this empowering evening of celebration! The Awards Ceremony will begin promptly at 6PM!

The Birmingham Squadron returns to Legacy Arena this week for two home games! On Friday they’ll take on the Greensboro Swarm at 7pm and then they’ll take on the Long Island Nets on Sunday at 3pm. You’ll have two chances to cheer them on! These games are always fun for the entire family! You don’t want to miss the excitement!

Join in the action at the Pelham Civic Complex for Viper Weekend on Friday March 8 & Saturday March 9. The Birmingham Bulls will be rebranding as the Cahaba Valley Vipers for the weekend!  On Friday March 8, the first 1000 kids ages 14 & under get a Vipers hat courtesy of Coca-Cola & CBS 42. The Vipers return on Saturday March 9 where the first 1000 adults ages 15 & over get a reversible bucket hat courtesy of Bryant Estate Sale Services.

Monster Energy AMA Supercross is where the world’s elite and most competitive off-road motorcycle riders compete for the 2024 Supercross Championship. Over the course of a 17-round season, these fearless athletes seek to outperform each other on custom-designed tracks inside the most prestigious stadiums across the country. Riders race bar-to-bar on technical dirt tracks featuring tight-banked corners, fast straightaways and challenging rhythm sections crafted to test their skills and endurance. Protective Stadium will be transformed into an extreme dirt track! There will also be a TON of activities for kids and the whole family, starting at 11am!

Good for Her: Exploring our Relationship with Hysterical Women

Since early Western Civilization femininity has been tied to stories of madness. This presentation examines some of the history of the film trope, the “hysterical woman” and its effect on modern pop culture. This presentation is part of the Women in Film Series taking place March 7th - 10th at Sidewalk Cinema and will be hosted by our friend, and fellow Bad Movie Marathoner, Kitty Byrge! *This is a "pay what you can" event, with the suggested price of $10. Ticket sales from this event will go towards Education and Outreach programs. Be sure to stay for a showing of the cult classic, “Jennifer's Body” at 7:30pm.
