That’s right! We get one extra day in February! It’s also the first weekend of March, so that means it’s time for the Chili Cook-off!  This is one of Birmingham’s best attended food festivals. Also, we still are in Birmingham Winter Restaurant Week! Be sure to check out the website and see which local restaurants are participating! 

Oh, and a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! Happenin’s in the Ham is hosting a Thrifted Prom at Woodlawn Theatre! The theme is “Written in the Stars,” and we are encouraging all attendees to wear thrifted formal wear from a locally owned thrift/consignment shop!  The proceeds from the event will go to the Woodlawn Community Table 501c3 to help the Woodlawn community!

Support your local eateries by taking advantage of these special items and prix fixe menus!  There will also be another Food Truck Rally at City Walk (in front of the BJCC) this weekend. We attended this last weekend and had so much fun!  Oh and be sure to get your tickets to Wineology taking place on March 5th at Uptown Cantina!  This is a delicious way to support local businesses!

Cottontail's Village Festival is a division of Christmas Village Festival and brings families and friends together to celebrate spring. Featuring over 200 booths, vendors from all across the United States offer a variety of gifts including arts, crafts, clothing, food and jewelry. Bards & Brews March Open Mic is hosted by local poet Thed Weller at the Birmingham District Brewing Company & our featured poet is Joi Miner. Bards & Brews happens on the 1st Friday of each month & promises a night of spoken word poetry paired with something to sip on. Everyone is welcome to perform at this open mic with their preferred form of spoken word art or just join as a part of the crowd to support Birmingham’s artists.

Don’t missThe Exceptional Foundation 20th Annual Chili Cook-Off! The Chili Cook-Off is one of the largest food events of the year and one of Birmingham’s favorite annual fundraisers. Join in for this family-friendly event, featuring live music, a kids' zone, beverages, and all the chili you can eat. Proceeds directly benefit The Exceptional Foundation’s programs for adults and youth with intellectual disabilities. Be sure to arrive early because there is a LOT of chili to be sampled!  Oh, and don’t miss the AFTER PARTY at Avondale Brewing kicking off at 3pm! You can dance off some of that chili while Mark AD spins some fantastic beats!

Get ready to revisit some of your favorite prom memories at Thrifted Prom: Written in the Stars! Hosted by Happenin’s in the Ham at Woodlawn Theatre, this will be a night to remember! Tickets will include buffet style catering and a signature cocktail/mocktail drink ticket. Dance the night away to a DJ and soak up some cliche prom vibes! Guests are encouraged to source their outfits from locally owned thrift stores and there will be a prize for Most Creative and Most Sustainable/Upcycled look!
Proceeds will be donated to Woodlawn Community Table, a 501(c)3 sustainable low-income food cooperative with the focus of healthy food options and relationship building to raise the social capital of its neighbors in the Woodlawn community.
