March is Women’s History Month and we have a list of fun events that are either FREE or low-cost! These events are a great way to celebrate all the powerful, dedicated, and driven women who help cultivate and grow our Birmingham community! We are lucky to know so many incredible women that work tirelessly to help change Birmingham for the better in so many different ways.  Check out this list and be sure to try and attend these events! 


Women in Film Week

Sidewalk’s Women In Film Week will feature important, innovative and influential films directed or written by women. This celebration of Women in Film will acknowledge the important artistic and technical contributions made by females in the industry. In addition to first run and retrospective film screenings, the week will offer related panels, workshops, networking and social activities, creating space for the entire community, filmmakers and audiences alike, and celebrate Women in Film.

Please join the AMD crew on Friday, March 8th, 2024 from 5:30 - 7:30pm at the Federal Reserve building for the 5th Annual Women Making Waves Awards! They will be celebrating these women (nominated by fellow friends and coworkers) who consistently show strength, confidence and dedication — all while supporting their businesses and uplifting Birmingham. A special thank you to the event sponsor, Urban Cookhouse, who is providing heavy hors d'oeuvres as well as their house made strawberry lemonade sangria! Good for Her: Exploring our Relationship w Hysterical Women

Since early Western Civilization femininity has been tied to stories of madness. Historically, our uterus is the genesis to instability and the source of female wickedness. This presentation examines some of the history of the film trope, the “hysterical woman” and its effect on modern pop culture. This educational presentation is part of the Women in Film Series taking place March 7th - 10th at Sidewalk Cinema. This event will be led by our friend, and fellow Bad Movie Marathon Winner, Kitty Byrge!  Be sure to hang around for a screening of the cult classic “Jennifer’s Body,” at 7:30pm! Moms of the Movement: Women of Dynamite Hill

Contenders Collective 2024

The 95.7 Jamz, Black Women's Roundtable, and Max Transit present the Women's Empowerment Brunch focused on motivating our female audience and the women in our surrounding communities during Women's History Month. The brunch will be an intimate in person experience with 50 attendees, the ladies of 95.7 JAMZ, and special guest speakers. This year's brunch will take place at Michael's Restaurant from 10a-12p, and brunch will be provided to all attendees. This networking brunch will be hosted by the ladies of 95.7 JAMZ, Diamond Tyleir and K. Samone with music provided by DJ Gorgeous. There will be plenty of networking, prize giveaways, surprise guest appearances and more.

Join in for the fourth installment of Pour Us Another! A FREE event celebrating women + non-binary humans, craft beer, and fermentation. Planned by Pink Boots Birmingham and hosted by Monday Night Brewing, this event is all-women everything. They’ll have a Women of Craft Beer Panel from 12:30 – 1:15 featuring women from the craft beer/fermented beverage industry, female and non-binary-owned businesses for you to shop, live music, and more. Plus, Monday Night will have a full lineup of craft beer, cocktails, and more, including the Honey May I(PA), aCali-IPA/Pale brewed in collaboration with Monday Night and Cait Jordan, a Pink Boots Birmingham member and Brewer/Co-Owner of the upcoming StellaTripp Brewing Company.
