We LOVE celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Birmingham! The 6am Kegs & Eggs event as Innisfree was the first event we started attending annually as a couple waaaay back before we started Happenin’s. Check out some of these fantastic St. Patrick’s events as well as plenty of other fun things to do over the weekend here in Birmingham as we all welcome Spring 2022!

7th Annual Irish Flag Raising & Great Bham Irish Toast!

Raise a flag and a glass, and toast to Irish culture! The Five Points Alliance and the Irish Cultural Society invite the community to join us for the 7th Annual Irish Flag Raising & The Great Birmingham Irish Toast Wednesday, which will serve as the commencement of the St. Patrick’s Day holiday the following day! The flag raising will take place from 5:30 to 6 p.m. at the flagpole located at Chick-fil-A in Five Points South The Birmingham Irish Cultural Society will lead the ceremony, which will include pipe and drum performances and an Irish blessing. Following the flag raising, a procession led by bagpipers will take the crowd to Black Market Bar & Grill, who will host Birmingham’s largest St. Patrick’s toast, The Great Birmingham Irish Toast, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., complete with Guinness beer and Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey drink specials!

Join the BMA and the Indian Cultural Society for the 11th annual Holi Festival sponsored by Medical Properties Trust, the Indian celebration of color. This popular event brings communities together for a fun-filled day celebrating Indian culture and featuring music, dance, food, henna, art-making, and gallery exploration. This year’s program takes inspiration from the exhibition on view in the Pizitz gallery, Expanding Darshan: Manjari Sharma, To See and Be Seen. At the end of the event, guests gather outside for the highlight of the day, the throwing of powdered colors to welcome the spring season. Make sure to wear something you don’t mind having to wash!

The Magic City Fried Chicken Festival is an open-air festival and competition that combines food, music, family, and community together in celebration of the classic southern dish. The festival features local musical artists, on-site activations for engagement, food trucks, artesian vendors, and plenty of chicken. 38th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade!!!

Join in for Birmingham’s largest St. Patrick’s Day parade taking place in Five Points South on Saturday, March 19 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Organized by the Five Points Alliance and The Birmingham Irish Cultural Society, the procession for the 38th Annual St. Patrick's Parade will start at Southern Research on 9th Avenue South, make its way through Five Points South and end at 13th Avenue South. Stay the day in Five Points and enjoy the festivities ALL DAY from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. with live music and Irish-themed food and drink specials at participating Five Points South restaurants and bars!
