BJCC Celebrates 50yrs, Cha Fest, EDM Raves, and more! 

This weekend the BJCC is celebrating 50yrs in Birmingham and are going all out with a festival and a FREE concert by Black Jacket Symphony! If you’re into EDM music, there are multiple raves at places like Woodlawn Theatre and Sloss. GREASE: Sing-a-long!

The Alabama Theatre will be showing GREASE this Friday night! But it gets better! This is a sing-a-long!  The words to all of the songs will be on the screen so you can sing along with hits like “Summer Loving,” “Grease Lightning,” and “You’re the One That I Want!” There are usually people dressed in leather or Pink Lady jackets and you can probably expect a themed cocktail or two!  Children ages two and younger are free of charge. Seating is general admission, first come, first served. Doors open one hour before showtime, and the screening will begin with a sing-along accompanied by the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ.

ETC presents a retelling of this Greek classic that requires no knowledge of Classic Greek - only a healthy disrespect for book-learnin'. Come give Odysseus some wacky challenges to face on his way home from that "Wooden Horse" war, and see how your hosting gods, Athena & Poseidon, really get along! And what of Penelope and Telemachus? Don't worry - you'll get to know 'em. Don't miss this hilarious send up of Homer's classic - that even Homer Simpson would love!

It's time for family-friendly fun at Up-Down with their exciting Family Hours on Sunday, July 12th! They’re opening the doors to those under 21 between 10am and 4pm to give families a place to hang out for an afternoon. They’ll be selling pizza by the slice for those who are hungry, as well as soda and other kid-friendly drinks to those under 21 and they’re offering a full bar to those over 21. As always, games are 25 cents or one token per play. This event is free to attend and is open to all ages. All minors MUST be accompanied by someone who is 21 or older. At 4pm, anyone over the age of 21 is welcome to stay, but those under 21 must leave at that time.
