Weekend Events in Birmingham: May 28-31
Summer Time Fun!
School is out and it’s time to jump into summer time events! (As with last week, be sure to check the event pages for weather updates, just in case.) This weekend brings us Zoo Brews, Wine Fest, Darter Fest, and even a Retro Prom! The Birmingham Barons are back in town for a homestand this week featuring some great theme nights! Check out all of the fun activities below, and be sure to enjoy Zoo Brews and Magic City Wine Fest responsibly! (Uber and Lyft are always a great idea for these!)

The Barons are taking on the Blue Wahoos this week! There are TONS of theme nights and giveaways! Competitive Hot Dog Eating Champion Joey Chestnut will be doing meet & greets this Thirsty Thursday and the band “Filthy Frets” will be playing a pre-game show! Working (The Musical)

This musical is based on Studs Terkel's best-selling book of interviews with American workers. “Working” paints a vivid portrait of folks the world so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the phone operator, the waitress, the millworker, the mason and the housewife, just to name a few. Nominated for six Tony Awards, this musical features songs by Tony Award-winning Lin-Manuel Miranda, as well as favorites by Stephen Schwartz and James Taylor. This is the final show of the current season!

Clueless: A New Team Word Game

Clueless is a new team word game event at Saturn! Word game connoisseurs, aficionados, and zealots - gather your friends for an evening of lexical fun. The game will be played in two parts. After each round, a large crossword grid projected onto the stage will start filling up with the correct answers, making solving easier in each subsequent round. The four teams with the top point totals after Part 1 will be invited onto the stage for Part 2, where they’ll battle at the buzzer to quickly solve mini-crossword clues for the chance at ultimate word glory.

Sip craft beers from 28 Alabama and Southeast breweries while you stroll the grounds and romp through Dino Safari’s 23 life‑size automated dinosaurs. This is a rain or shine event and will be held in the Children’s Zoo. Add lawn games, food trucks, and up‑close moments with ambassador animals and zookeepers, it’s a prehistoric party made for adults 21+. The festival supports the Alabama Environmental Council’s watershed education programs for Birmingham City Schools, with a particular emphasis on the Watercress Darter.
