It’s the weekend before Halloween and there's a seemingly endless list of events to attend, so we've narrowed it down a bit for you! Throwdown Thursday Latte Competition
Thurs, Oct. 25, 7-9pm
Cost: $5 entry fee
At: Revelator on 3rd Ave. (map)
Head down to Revelator Coffee on 3rd Ave. N and show off your Latte art skills for a great cause! For just $5 you can compete to see if you have the best “Latte Art.” Proceeds from alcohol sales benefit the Birmingham Crisis Center. There will also be a costume contest and an after-party next door at Shu Shop! Can you whip up a spooky design?

Classic Kick-Off Block Party

Get ready for the Classic Kickoff block party and concert hosted by the Birmingham Urban League in downtown Birmingham! Support the universities and make this the place to be on Thursday night. Enjoy live entertainment beginning at 5 pm on the concert stage with local talent including Yung Vokalz and Just A Few Cats followed by Keke Wyatt and a national headliner. Event includes Alabama A&M and ASU cheerleaders leading the alumni call-outs, fashion shows, food trucks, activation booths and more!

Nightmare Before Halloween

Every year the Hoover Library pulls out all the stops to entertain and delight kids of all ages. This year is no different with the Nightmare Before Halloween bash: A Tim Burton themed party with games, activities, food, costumed characters and much much MORE! Burton is the mind behind spooky films such as“The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Sleepy Hollow,” “Beetlejuice,” and more!

Join the Five Points Alliance for its inaugural Historic Home Tour and Fall Festival which will take place in the Anderson Place Historic District located in Five Points South.The Five Points Alliance is using storytelling and architecture to lead Birmingham history lovers on a journey as they gain a deeper understanding of the history in Five Points South and discover why residents have chosen this as their home for so many years. You can also enjoy the Fall Festival! The centerpiece of the Fall Festival is a live-action pumpkin carving contest featuring up to 100 carvers who will compete for prizes in categories such as "Traditional Halloween," "Birmingham Landmarks," and "Pop Culture." There will also be a Grand Prize winner for the audience favorite: the illustrious Festival Pumpkin. Winners will receive some amazing prizes!

**Homewood Witches Ride

The Homewood Witches Ride is a fun, crazy 2-mile bike ride through the streets of Homewood. Women dress up as witches, ride their brooms (bikes) and throw candy to the little monsters (kids) along the posted route. ALL children are welcome to come out and enjoy the free candy. The ride is to celebrate the beautiful spirits of those who have battled or lost their lives to cancer. The Homewood Witches Ride donates all registration fees and sponsorships to the American Cancer Society and its efforts to find a cure for lung cancer. This is a great opportunity to grab your girlfriends and have some fun for a great cause! Even better, bring the whole family and let the dads and kids enjoy the route and free candy! The ride itself takes off at 5:45pm and you must be an 18+ female to participate! Don’t worry, guys! You can enjoy the Fall Festival that’s happening 2-5pm before the ride!
